A nurturing Montessori nursery in the heart of Droxford

Welcome to Droxford Montessori School, a warm and nurturing early years setting for children aged 2 to 5.

Established in 2014, our school was created to give children a happy, stimulating and inspiring first experience of education. Based at Droxford Scout Hut, close to the village centre, we are fortunate to have a light, airy indoor space, outdoor learning areas, an allotment and access to several Forest School sites.

At Droxford Montessori, every child is valued as an individual. We provide a calm, caring and thoughtfully prepared environment where children can explore, grow in confidence and develop at their own pace. Our experienced Montessori staff support each child’s intellectual, social, physical, emotional and spiritual development, helping them to feel safe, settled and ready to learn.

Our approach

Our approach combines the Montessori method with Forest School principles, giving children the opportunity to learn through independence, purposeful play, real-life experiences and outdoor exploration.

The Montessori ethos is at the heart of everything we do. Children are encouraged to make choices, develop practical skills, care for their environment and build confidence through carefully prepared activities and materials. From pouring drinks and laying tables to caring for plants, exploring letters and numbers, baking, gardening and creating, each experience supports independence, concentration and self-esteem.

We also believe strongly in the value of outdoor learning. Our children regularly spend time in nature, whether in the woods, at the allotment, in the garden or exploring the local environment. These experiences help children develop curiosity, resilience, physical confidence and a deep connection with the natural world.

Our weekly timetable includes cookery, music and movement, gardening, yoga and Forest School, all delivered with the same gentle, child-centred approach. Children are invited to take part in group activities, but we also follow their interests, allowing learning to unfold naturally and meaningfully.

We are also proud to support families choosing alternative education paths, including children who are home-educated or taking part in flexi-schooling.
