Droxford Montessori School is a nursery school set in the beautiful rural location of Droxford in Hampshire. We are an Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery school setting offering Holiday Club’s for busy families! Children aged rising 3 to 10 years of age are welcome from 9.00am to 4.00pm.
We offer a safe and stimulating experience for families always adopting high staff ratios with highly qualified and experienced staff.
Our Holiday Club’s utilize the fabulous natural facilities in Droxford. Children will be able to help on the allotment, check up on the frogs in the pond and take part in Woodland sessions and river excursions. If the weather’s looking typically British we offer woodcrafts such as whittling and sawing to crafts from painting and baking.
On the day
This year we have decided to combine workshops alongside our traditional holiday club. As we enjoy seeing all the older children as well as our nursery children, this enables activities and fun for all. As well as the workshops going on during the holiday club, the children will have the opportunity of using the garden, park and of course hammer beads, arts and crafts but to name a few!
Clothing should be appropriate to the weather - a change of clothes and footwear for getting muddy is handy! If the sun is shining then please bring sun cream and a hat. Children should bring a healthy packed-lunch, we recommend an ice pack to keep food items chilled. We will supply milk or water at lunchtime, and snack throughout the day, which include cereals, toast, fruit and veggies! Please do inform us of any dietary requirements.
Monday 9th April - Bird Feeders & Bird Boxes
The children will have the opportunity to make bird feeders and boxes using re-claimed natural wood and slate, as well as mixing their own feed. Books and leaflets will be used to enable the children to learn how best to protect and look after British birds. Please bring binoculars as we will be going to the copse for some bird watching.
Tuesday 10th April - Glass Fairy Houses and Flower Making
The children will have the opportunity to make their own Fairy houses and flowers using a range of materials, demonstrating how we can use everyday objects to create new and innovative things for ourselves.
Wednesday 11th April - Den Building and Bush Craft
We will be going to the copse with rope and tarpaulin, to build our own dens. Tools will be taken but used with supervision and of course a rucksack full of goodies, we will be taking our lunch with us so please ensure your children have their own rucksack and suitable clothes. This workshop is crucial for enabling the children to get in touch with nature and have the freedom to develop and learn new skills.
Thursday 12th April - Puppets! Puppets! Puppets!
We will be making puppets from papier-mâché, wood and a multitude of re-cycle able materials. Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately as this will no doubt get very messy with all the creativity going on! The children will be giving a performance at the end of the workshop, which we would love you to attend. Therefore if you are able to come then please come at 3,30pm for the performance, for end of workshop at 4.00pm.
Friday 13th April - Creative Workshop
We will be offering the children a wide range of materials for creating, from beautiful pebbles/stones to make their own story telling with. To clay and papier-mâché for those extraordinary creations, to very large boxes!! Who knows what will be discovered!!!
